Professor Megan Davis is a Cobble Cobble woman of the Barrungam nation in south west Queensland.
She grew up in country Queensland in the North Burnett region, including Mulgildie, Monto, Hervey Bay and then, in a book-loving household in Eagleby, Logan City.
Biographies, poetry and Rugby League Week were all essential reading matter for young Megan.
After studying law at the University of Queensland she built a career at the UN in diplomacy and constitutional law.
Then Megan became one of the key figures behind the history-making Uluru Statement from the Heart.
In 2017, this call for reform to the community from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples asked for some crucial changes.
These include the establishment of a First Nations Voice to Parliament protected in the Australian constitution, and a process of agreement-making and truth-telling.
